De Bruynes Free Kick Seals Victory

Manchester City Progress to Champions League Final After Routing Real Madrid

De Bruyne's Free-Kick Seals Victory

Manchester City have reached the Champions League final after a dominant 4-0 victory over Real Madrid on Wednesday night, completing a 5-1 aggregate triumph. The match was effectively over as a contest in the first half, with City scoring three goals without reply. Ederson Moraes made a series of fine saves to keep Madrid at bay, while Kevin De Bruyne's free-kick in the 73rd minute sealed the victory.

Militao Own Goal Opens Scoring

The opening goal came in the 15th minute when Eder Militao attempted to clear De Bruyne's free-kick but instead deflected the ball into his own net. Phil Foden doubled City's lead just five minutes later, finishing off a flowing move involving De Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez. Bernardo Silva then made it 3-0 in the 21st minute with a thunderous strike from outside the box.

Haaland Atonement

Erling Haaland, who had missed a penalty in the first half, made amends in the second half by scoring City's fourth goal in the 58th minute. The Norwegian striker latched onto a pass from De Bruyne and finished with aplomb.

Real Madrid Frustrated

Real Madrid were unable to find a way past Ederson in the City goal, despite having several good chances. Karim Benzema was denied by a superb save in the first half, while Vinicius Junior hit the post in the second half. The Spanish champions were ultimately outclassed by a City side that was in irresistible form.

City Eye Champions League Glory

Manchester City will now face either Chelsea or Real Madrid in the Champions League final on May 28th. Pep Guardiola's side will be favorites to win the trophy, having been in such impressive form throughout the season.
